GAP YEAR PROGRAM

UB Global’s Gap Year Program offers an immersive and well-rounded experience for passionate believers interested in missions.

The program aims to nurture spiritual growth, foster independence, and develop a heart for missions as participants engage in hands-on ministry and cultural immersion in diverse communities. Believers will have the opportunity to experience missions in the home office as well as domestic and international fields. The program takes place across three stages that will span summer to summer, in which participants will actively contribute to a variety of projects related to missions and their own interests.

Whether it’s participating in community outreach, helping the missions team at home and on the field, or sharing the Gospel, this program combines faith with purposeful work and personal development, preparing young adults not just with a heart for ministry but with skills to transfer to future careers.

DOMESTIC FIELD

Participants will spend a portion of the program among diverse refugee and immigrant communities in a N. American city, focusing on evangelism and outreach. By building relationships with and providing support to immigrants and their families, participants will help these communities navigate the challenges of resettlement and integration while sharing the love Jesus. This hands-on experience will not only foster a deeper understanding of the complexities faced by refugees and immigrants but also develop participants' empathy, cultural sensitivity, and communication skills. Through collaboration with local organizations and community leaders, participants will make a tangible impact while gaining insights into the unique dynamics of ministry among immigrants & refugees.

HOME OFFICE

During a dedicated period in the Gap Year Program, participants will serve in the home office in Huntington, Indiana, gaining valuable experience in the operational side of mission work. This portion aims to provide understanding of the strategic, financial, and administrative aspects of missions, while contributing to the overall mission of UB Global.

Participants will assist the team with various tasks, providing crucial support to the organization. Responsibilities can be customized based on the interests, talents and skills of the intern.

INTERNATIONAL FIELD

Participants will spend a portion of the program on one of UB Global's international fields, working among unreached people groups. They will engage in relationship-building, cultural exchange, community outreach, and service in Jesus' name. Participants will work alongside the local team of cross-cultural workers and national staff to support long-term missions objectives, serve the local community, and grow new relational connections. This experience is designed to deepen participants' understanding of global missions as they experience firsthand serving in a cross-cultural context.
