Thailand Buddhists

Ethnic Thai Buddhists: Thailand

In Thailand, there are more than 55 million who are ethnically Thai and Buddhist. They are barely 1% Christian, making them an unreached people group. There is a multi-national team of UBG cross-cultural workers who are sharing the love of Jesus in Chiang Rai. They are serving three large urban neighborhoods through and around the Good Soil Community Center. They host multiple short-term teams a year.

Shoptar Unreached Man

Shoptar

(We use the name Shoptar publicly for security reasons. It’s not their real name.)

The Shoptar are one of the least-reached tribal Muslim people groups. There are about 80 million Shoptars around the world. Christians make up merely 0.003% among the Shoptar. A Shoptar could be disowned or even killed if they tried to learn about Jesus. Many will never have the chance to engage with a Christian or the true Gospel. There are few cross-cultural workers among this people group, which is why UB Global has made a commitment to work with Shoptars in various locations around the world. There are international and domestic opportunities, and missionaries are involved in education and other professions.

Oshari

(We use the name Oshari publicly for security reasons for the country and its people. It’s not their real name.)

The Oshari are a non-religious people group living in a country where the flow of information is highly controlled. There are about 30 million Osharis and only about 1.6% profess to be Christian. Christianity, and all other religions, are strictly prohibited. If an Oshari is found to be a Christian, they and their extended family members can face imprisonment and death. The few missionaries working with this group use their professions to share the good news of the Gospel.

Two Other Locations

There are two other locations where missionaries are serving among unreached people groups through education and community development. These regions are also closed to the Gospel. Click here to support work in those regions.
